Arkema Elium resins are used to make fully recyclable fiberglass boats

Brunswick, a company that develops, manufactures and markets a wide range of products for the marine industry, is expanding its collaboration with specialty materials company Arkema, to develop a fully recyclable fiberglass vessel that integrates Arkema's Elium liquid thermoplastic resin on all of the ship's composite components, core materials and adhesives. The project, part of Brunswick's enterprise-wide sustainability program, is expected to result in hull and structural components being fully recycled at the end of their useful life and put back into the production process, reducing the amount of single-use materials and the procurement of virgin raw materials.

The first composite boat prototype is expected to be on display at the 2022 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show Oct. 26-30 and will be developed in conjunction with fiberglass boat manufacturer Boston Whaler, using the brand's construction to validate the technology.
